Professional Development Workshops
In 2017 Bournemouth Interpreters' Group began a series of Professional Development Workshops and Seminars. These are free for all member-interpreters.
Two sessions on Safeguarding and Confidentiality, delivered by the Poole Council Safeguarding Team were held in February 2017. Over half the membership attended one of the two sessions.
A session on Vicarious Trauma - dealing with the aftermath of emotionally difficult interpreting sessions - was delivered by a leading local Psychologist in May 2017.
A session on Freelance Interpreter Finances was led by a local accountant in November 2017.
A session on Professional Boundaries led by an external provider was held in October 2019.
The workshop scheduled for March 2020 on
Domestic Abuse: Working with Victims and Recognising the Signs
was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
A new date for this will be notified in due course.
