ORIGINS in the COMMUNITY

The Bournemouth Interpreters' Group CIC originally grew out of a Community Interpreting Course run by Bournemouth and Poole College in 2004. The Course itself originated at the instigation of Bournemouth Borough Council, in order to address three needs:

  • to give service providers local access to interpreters in a range of languages

  • to give interpreters local access to a nationally recognised qualification

  • to meet the needs and rights of speakers of other languages in the area
    in accessing local services
